When you walk through the door of one of our postnatal support circles for the first time, you might not know quite what to expect. Maybe you have had a rough night. Maybe your baby has been feeding every ninety minutes and you cannot remember the last time you felt like yourself. Maybe you just need somewhere to sit that is not your living room. Whatever brought you here, you are welcome — and that is the whole point.
Vibrant Health Advocates – Aureon runs regular postnatal support circles right here in Grangemouth, designed specifically for mothers in the weeks and months after birth. Grangemouth is a busy industrial town, and while it has a tight community spirit, the particular pressures of new motherhood can leave women feeling cut off — from their friends, from their sense of identity, and from the information they need to feel confident as parents.
Our circles are small by design. We keep the groups intimate so that every woman has the chance to speak, to be heard, and to hear from others who genuinely understand what she is going through. Sessions are led by trained facilitators who create a structured but relaxed space — there is always a mix of guided conversation, trusted health information, and time for honest, unfiltered chat.
"What we hear most from the women who attend is that the circle gives them permission to be honest."
Topics shift from week to week based on what the group needs. Some weeks the conversation centres on sleep — what is realistic, what the research actually says, how to cope when you are running on empty. Other weeks mothers want to talk about relationships, about the shift in identity that comes with becoming a parent, or about navigating appointments and services they did not know existed. We bring in accurate, evidence-based wellbeing information and present it without jargon, because every mother deserves to understand her own health.
What we hear most from the women who attend is that the circle gives them permission to be honest. Postnatal life is often portrayed as a golden period, and when your reality does not match that picture it can feel isolating and even shameful. Our sessions gently challenge that narrative. There is no performance required here — no need to pretend the baby is sleeping through or that you are coping brilliantly.
Isolation is one of the most significant risk factors for postnatal mental health difficulties, and Grangemouth's geography and working patterns can amplify that isolation. By creating a regular, consistent meeting point, we give new mothers something to anchor their week — a reason to get out, people to look forward to seeing, and a community that builds over time.
If you are a new mum in the Grangemouth area and you are curious about joining us, you do not need a referral and you do not need to be struggling. You just need to show up. We will take it from there.
